Measure room length and width (or enter area directly for irregular rooms). Add openings or nooks as separate rooms if needed. The calculator applies a waste factor — 10% for laminate and vinyl plank, up to 15% for tile with pattern cuts — then divides by the coverage printed on the box (e.g. 20.5 sq ft per box is common).
